    Description

The Peter Pan Never Bird Extra Large Theatrical Prop Hand Puppet was built by the Scottish Mask and Puppet Centre in Glasgow.
    One of a kind.
It was commissioned by the Santa Barbara Theatre Company to be used in the rarely seen Act III (mermaid lagoon)
    for a 2008 production of J. M. Barrie's original play
. This production was the first to use Leonard Bernstein's entire music and lyrics for Peter Pan. The Never Bird has a wingspan of 62". The head is 12" high. The beak is 12" long. There is a puppeteer costume with an arm span of 6'. Designed to be used while seated behind a row of waves in the scene where the Never Bird gives Peter her floating nest to save him from the rising waters on Marooners' Rock. Also, the costume is designed to be used by a professional puppeteer. A perfect example of a "rara avis."
